Why I dared to open the Institute?

I do not claim any novelty, authority, or direct lineage. My daring arose from a different source: The lived recognition that humans are sacred 'work-in-progress' and that impulses can be channelled toward a greater purpose — To become seekers of the Supreme.

I called this drawing a bigger line to shorten the previously drawn line.
The bigger line is not invention, but orientation.
It is the vow to refine impulses into sincerity.

The Fourth Way has been my approach to this transformation. Yet when I speak of the Fourth Way, I mean my interpretation of it. Its fundamentals are stable, but its practice is malleable. No two ways are identical, for each depends on the seeker. As Gurdjieff himself said:
  • It is anything but the Fourth Way if it cannot lead to the harmonious development of man.
  • It is nothing other than the Fourth Way if it has resulted in a man’s harmonious development.

My confidence came retrospectively from walking this path. Certain virtues revealed themselves as inborn — Not developed by me, but uncovered through the journey. These virtues became the foundation upon which I dared to open the institute:

Emphatic Imagination — The ability to feel beyond oneself.

Complete Inability to Judge Others — Wholesome acceptance without any condemnation.

Being Confided in by Strangers — A natural trust that others recognise.

Kaizen as Sole Driver — The Japanese philosophy of continuous refinement guiding every step.

I did not invent these virtues. I only recognised them and in recognising them, I understood they were not mine alone but were meant to serve as a catalyst for others.
